Mack Trucks’ new Anthem day cab roof fairing offers a taller profile than previous iterations to reduce drag, and the trim tab height is adjustable to fit the truck’s chassis height, the trailer height, and the distance between the rear cab and the front of the trailer. When paired with side shields, Mack says the new day cab roof fairing can increase fuel efficiency by as much as 2%.
“Mack remains committed to improving the total cost of ownership for customers by designing innovative and fuel-efficient components, delivering better fuel efficiency results,” says Stu Russoli, Mack highway product manager. “Designing products that offer up to a 2% fuel efficiency improvement on an already fuel-efficient truck significantly impacts a customer’s bottom line.”
SmartWay Certification
The EPA’s SmartWay program is an easy way to identify tractors and trailers designed to lower fuel consumption and emission of air pollutants. Operators can spec the Mack Anthem day cab models as SmartWay certified when they select the new roof fairings, side shields, a chassis fairing, and an aerodynamic bumper. Low-resistance, SmartWay-certified tires are also required for the certification.
Pair With A Fuel-Efficient Drivetrain
Mack announced the new roof fairing during the NPTC (National Private Truck Council) Annual Management Conference and Exhibition. Attendees had an opportunity to see the new fairing on an Anthem day cab truck equipped with Mack’s MP7 engine and the mDRIVE 12-speed automated manual transmission. Mack says the MP7 engine series is the most fuel-efficient option, while the mDRIVE technology offers better fuel efficiency, smoother shifts, and a more comfortable driving experience.
